Sons and Service

Believers are chosen in Christ with the result they are sanctified and without blemish before God. In this session, we consider the sonship relationship with our Heavenly Father and the joy of serving Him as one of His children.

An Exercise in Scripture Build-up

One of the keys as to how the Bible interprets itself is Scripture Build-up. In this session we will consider the record when Jesus Christ heals Peter’s wife’s mother and see how the records in Matthew, Mark, and Luke build upon each other.

Keys to interpretation, Scripture build-up, healing

Matthew 8:14-17; Mark 1:27-34; Luke 4:36-41

Let Us Praise Him

God’s Word tells us that we are to constantly offer praise to God. It also informs us that the angels of heaven, who know Him and observe His ways, are continually praising Him. In this session we consider some of what the Word says about praising Him Who is worthy of all praise!

Praise, glory, sanctification, blessing, singing, more and more, with thanksgiving

We are not Forsaken

Believers may face difficult times when a loved one leaves them. Stressful times can follow if family or friends abandon each other – but we must remember God does not abandon us. We must work together to rebuild friendships and bring glory to Him on high.

Friendships, brothers, edify one another, forgiveness, we are not forsaken

Reassurance for the Unsaved

My experience is that many who are unsaved want nothing to do with Christianity. For some, they’ve been traumatized by a bad religious experience. For others, they watch Christians who are hypocritical, pious, and smug – and conclude: “That’s not for me.” We can reassure them that God keeps things simple, loves everyone, and offers real freedom in His Son, Christ Jesus.

What if I Remain Single?

The question of a Christian being single and what the Bible says about believers never marrying is often misunderstood. We will consider this subject from God’s Word.

Care for Widows

God has special concern for those who are left alone, many times calling attention to extending compassion to widows and orphans. Care for widows can be seen throughout the Old and New Testaments, attesting to the ongoing concern that widows not be neglected. The Apostle Paul received revelation regarding the proper care for those who are truly widows – instructions that are appropriate for us today.

Widows, mistreat, justice, remember the poor, honor, devotion, qualifications

What About the Elderly

Today, it seems that the general population leans towards a youth-centric view to life, and when you’re too old, the elderly is sent away to live the remainder of their days locked away from the rest of society. But God speaks highly of the elderly. Today we will consider some of what God says: 1) about the elderly, 2) to the elderly, and 3) to those who care for the elderly

Elderly, aged, children’s children, pride, valuable, righteous ones, honor

Husbands – Live Joyfully with the Wife Whom You Love

God is the One Who instituted marriage. He recognized that man needed a helper in the form of woman. He told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply and to have children. Today, more than ever, God’s design for the family is under attack by the Adversary, but God has much to say about the husband-wife relationship. Let us consider some of what He says about wives who are called prudent and virtuous.

Husband, wife, helpmeet, virtuous, wisdom, prudent

Psalm 128:1-4; Proverbs 5:18-19, 12:4a, 14:1, 19:14, 31:10-31; Ecclesiastes 9:9
